Science
Through engaging and inspiring lessons children are taught essential aspects of the knowledge, processes, and uses of science.
Our aim is to enable children to be bold in their questioning, inspiring curiosity and enabling them to have the confidence to ask why and how.
Through our science curriculum, children learn to ask scientific questions and develop their investigative and problem-solving skills. They also begin to appreciate the way science will affect their future on a personal, national and global level. They are taught to work scientifically; asking simple questions, observing, performing simple tests, identifying and classifying and gathering and recording data to help them answer questions.
Our curriculum is progressive and children revisit and build understanding and knowledge throughout Y1 and Y2 with the following national curriculum themes woven through their learning.
- Plants
- Animals (including Humans)
- Living things and their habitats
- Everyday materials (including their uses)
- Seasonal changes
